Norwich Dining

I’m quite sad that the excellent site Norwich Dining seems to have disappeared into the Internet ether……. And so, to remedy this, I will be reviewing the restaurants I visit here – hopefully someone will find the reviews useful.

Happy Saturday: The Nude Edition

If you don’t feel touched by this song…

Happy Saturday: The Happy Twirly Edition

I am so totally in love with this song! I don’t care what you say…it’s too 80’s, too happy, too bright….you need that stuff in your life!!!!

And this is why I’m not a radical feminist

Seriously, I’m speechless:

So this is a fight we can all be in, and we need to be honest about how women are made mentally ill by male sexual colonization. We need to have space for women who have never ever had sex with men — this is a great power women have had througout history, and we overlook the greatness of this. We should celebrate these power women who have kept their bodies free of rape that is ALL SEX with men. Sex with men is rape, whether women want to admit it or not, if women have to rely on it to get fed or taken care of.

(Emphasis mine)

Muslim bashing

I’ve always enjoyed reading Planet Atheism – mostly for the various views and takes on religion and also for an insight into the various personalities out there in the atheosphere. I’ve been uneasy recently with some of the anti-muslim rhethoric that has been propagated out there. Now I must admit, I’m biased, my family converted to islam when I was twelve, and therefore, I believe I have some knowledge into muslim mindset and I also have an affinity for muslims. The stories that have been out there – the muslim medical students refusing to wash their hands, councils changing holiday festival names to be more inclusive, Nationwide changing the logo of a piggy bank, hysteria over dogs……………all linked to muslims and islam in the popular press, all shown on a documentary on Channel 4 to be a false link.

Now, I’ve been nervous about voicing my misgivings because of the anti-muslim bias i perceive, as an atheist, I would prefer that all these religions would disappear, but every time i have had the temeritty to mention that the brush strokes have been a bit broad, I’ve been accused of being an apologetic.

Muslims, Christians, Jews, Hindus, Atheists……………we aare all human, and it serves no one to dehumanise the other. Part of the reason I’m an atheist is to fight bigotry, and I find it disturbing that many atheist are happy to jump on the bigotry train because of recent terrorist attacks.

Desperately want a body like Demi Moore’s

Nuff said!!

I like steak

So after a week of self flagellation for all the weight I’ve gained, I was online looking up various steak cuts and names (and also trying to figure out the differences in American and British cuts……there really don’t seem to be any, must be a fashion thing then)….when I stumbled across a Cowboy cut steak….mmmmmmmmmmmmm!! Good lord, have I been salivating! Any woo, as I am licking my lips, moaning at the screen, staring at the steaks with a vacant look in my eyes, my husband walks in………… And he starts laughing at me. At least I wasn’t looking at naughty pictures I say!!

The Wright Stuff….. and Kay Adams

I love Matthew Wright in the Wright Stuff – have watched the show for years. My husband just can’t get his head round Matthew being reasonable instead of a bilge writing sleaze infested journalist who once wrote for the Mirror. Anyway, this week’s discussions have been interesting. IMO Kay Adams, who is on the panel this week, (and who is one of my favourite panelists becaue we always have reasonable discussions when she is on the panel) is a bit too “Blame the parents for everything wrong that happens to kiddies” and it’s getting under my skin, but it’s alright.
